Coffee island design in a shopping mall
A coffee island in a shopping center should attract visitors’ attention, conveniently present the assortment, and ensure comfortable work for the barista. In this SIMPEKS DESIGN project, we combined the compact format of a coffee shop with expressive textures and thoughtful placement of equipment.
The design is based on wood tones, light countertops, and black metal details. Vertical slats on the facades add rhythm, and the open composition allows the customer to immediately see the display case and the beverage preparation area.
Modern island-style coffee shop design
The wood texture makes the coffee island visually warm and cozy. Contrasting dark inserts between the rails emphasize the geometry of the counter, and light work surfaces balance the composition.
A thin metal structure above the counter defines the boundaries of the café, keeping the space open. Integrated linear lighting accentuates the counter and maintains the modern character of the design.
This design of the shopping island creates a holistic image that is clearly visible from different directions of visitor movement.
Functional planning of a coffee island
In a compact coffee shop, it is important to coordinate the work area and the place for serving customers. The design includes surfaces for preparing and serving drinks, placing coffee equipment, and demonstrating products.
Coffee grinders, coffee making equipment and ingredients are grouped in the work area. A drinks refrigerator is located to the side, and a dessert display case is in the front area, accessible for viewing.
Such zoning helps organize the sequence of the barista’s work and make the product selection process clear for the visitor.
Dessert showcase and assortment presentation
The glass display case has become one of the central elements of the coffee island. It opens up a view of the desserts and complements the composition of the counter without blocking the work area.
Open side shelves allow for the placement of packaged products and related goods. The menu on the back panel is collected in one place so that the visitor can familiarize themselves with the offer before ordering.
A well-thought-out presentation of the assortment is an important part of the design of a coffee shop in a shopping center: it helps the buyer quickly navigate and choose a drink or dessert.
Lighting and materials
The project combines linear lighting of the upper structure, local fixtures and shelf lighting. The light emphasizes the wood textures, highlights the products and makes the composition more expressive.
The combination of glass, light surfaces, wood pattern and metal supports a unified style. During the implementation of the design project, the materials of the working areas are selected taking into account the daily workload and ease of cleaning.
